Which route would you take? There's always more than one way to hit a shot or play a hole, and it will usually depend on conditions and how comfortable you feel with each option. Take a look at this hole diagram, for example; the hole doglegs to the left, meaning you could choose to play it safe off the tee with an iron if you know you’re not a big hitter or have a good score going that you want to protect (as shown by the yellow line). However, if you are feeling a little bit more confident or your score requires you to be more aggressive, you might be able to cut the corner of the dogleg with a driver and have a considerably easier shot into the green, with a better chance of making birdie as a result. This is shown by the red line. Both approaches are perfectly acceptable – if you know your game then you’ll be able to make the right decision more often than not. |
